Pewin Travel Group (PTG) grows with Sherlock

Fleet growth

Background and Challenges

Pewin Travel Group (PTG) was established in Nairobi, Kenya in 2007 with a focus on providing a transportation service to corporate businesses in the city.

Following some years of successful trading, the business’ management began searching for a technology partner that would help grow the operation.

The management team approached Addison Lee, a leading taxi company with a reputation for servicing several of the top FTSE100 businesses in the city of London. The team quickly realised that Addison Lee’s tremendous success was underpinned by a technology platform designed to better efficiencies, increase automation, and streamline business operations.

Solutions & Outcomes

PTG launched with Sherlock in 2013 with approximately 100 drivers.

The operations team used Sherlock to transition from their previous manual allocation of jobs to auto-allocation, enabling the ops team to work much more efficiently and drivers to be dispatched to jobs in the most efficient way possible for the fleet as a whole. As a result, PTG increased the number of jobs drivers completed in any given timeframe whilst maintaining and improving on customer service levels for top account clients.

Since using Sherlock, PTG has grown its fleet to in excess of 1000 drivers and the company now services in excess of 600 corporate accounts.

Account clients are actively encouraged to use the Account Management Portal within Sherlock which allows stakeholders to create their own bookings, review invoices/cost centres and monitor data on frequent travellers, trips, spend etc. online to manage their accounts at their own convenience, without needing to contact the call centre.

Additionally, PTG benefits from Sherlock’s booking approvals feature. In Kenya it is commonplace for any member of staff at a company to make bookings regardless of seniority. With the booking approval feature, a senior manager can review bookings created in a single window and easily approve or reject before the driver is dispatched. This coupled with the Account Management Portal has proved to be a hugely beneficial marketing tool for PTG when tendering for new corporate business and has enabled a huge increase in corporate account work for PTG.

In the past decade, PTG has grown into one of the leading taxi and chauffeur companies in the region and a major success story in Nairobi. Last year, the business was awarded the opportunity to sponsor the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon as recognition of that success. In addition, PTG partners with many leading organisations in the country such as KATA, the Kenya Association of Travel Agents which provides member agents with preferential access to PTG’s elite concierge transfer services for their clients, recognising PTG as the leading Kenyan-owned transport solution provider in the country.

PTG’s prestige in Kenya continues to grow and the company was recently the main transportation provider at the 25th Africa Energy Forum (AEF), headed by Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Energy and Petroleum. The event gathered governments and business leaders in the energy sector from different countries to identify opportunities and form partnerships in the energy industry.

“PTG has transformed its operations thanks to our technology partner, Sherlock. This strategic cooperation has elevated efficiency, enabling us to provide top-tier transportation services to businesses in Kenya”
